Celebrate Small Wins: Try activities like box breathing; making your favourite cuppa; opening your blinds or curtains; doing your morning hygiene routine (even a mini version too).
Set Boundaries: Politely assert your right to live in your home on your schedule e.g. “I understand that noise travels easily due to the type of sound insulation in the building. As a result, normal everyday sounds are amplied.”
Assume Positive Intent: Recognise that most actions stem from people having different habits to you and may also stem from others misunderstanding perceived noises.
Engage Moderately: Balance social interaction, with other residents, with respect for privacy.
Low impact workouts at home: Try exercises like yoga, stretching, or seated exercises that limit impact noise. Resistance bands are great for low-noise strength training.
Normal speech: Speak in your normal voice instead of murmurs for a general conversations. This can help you get used to feeling more comfortable with using your voice.
Seek Mediation if Necessary: If conflicts persist, involve building management, HOA, or a mediator to find a resolution.
May you experience life, lived with a brave heart.
